Tribeca Family Festival

The Tribeca Film Festival just wrapped up this Saturday.  It has been fun seeing all the activities going on in the neighborhood these last 2 weeks.  On Saturday they had a big family festival all geared toward kiddos!  What could be better?

The girls were excited, they were hoping for a bouncy house.  Unfortunately, there was no bouncy house but lots of other fun activities.

First stop was story time and bubbles.  Then each kiddo got a balloon sword with a heart at the end.  The kids were thrilled and by the end of the day we had one left :)  We also enjoyed yummy food.  They shared a cupcake that they got to decide on the sprinkle topping followed by pizza and hot dogs. 

Of course the NYFD was there and the kiddos got to check out the different fire engines.  The weather was quite chilly and the wind made it down right cold.  I was done after a couple hours.  But no street fair would be complete without some face painting.  Luna requested a butterfly and a butterfly she got.  They airbrushed it on.  Rachel attempted one but did not like the air blowing on her and started to cry :( maybe next time.

Rachel's Classroom Birthday Party

Once arriving back in NYC, Rachel got to celebrate her Birthday with her classmates.  I was a little worried about how she would handle all the attention since her party in Washington did not go so well.  But in class it was low key and she loved it.  Although when the kids sang her Happy Birthday she did not look up and smile until the very end of the song :)

I told her we could decorate cupcakes to bring in.  Both her and Luna love to help me bake anything and love decorating even better.  I think it is all the sampling that happens in the process :) She wanted piglet cupcakes and this is what we came up with.  Her teacher guessed pig so we were close :)

I am so glad I am able to do these things with the girls and share these special moments with them.  So grateful to be a stay at home Mom.  Would not change it for the world!  Happy Birthday precious girl!

Space Shuttle Enterprise Flyover

Today the space shuttle Enterprise flew over Manhattan.  The girls and I bundled up on this cold spring day and waited along the Hudson River for the flyover.  We got there a little early and the girls had a hard time waiting.  It was quite cold, windy and all.  They both kept asking when the "space ship" was going to arrive  :)  It passed over us twice and it was really incredible to watch.  I loved it, the girls were not overly impressed :)

The Enterprise will be kept at the Intrepid.  It came to NYC as NASA wraps up the space shuttle program. The space shuttle exhibit is suppose to open this summer to the public, can't wait to go see it!

Happy 3rd Birthday Rachel

Our sweet little girl turned 3!  Happy Birthday Rachel!  We love you so much.  We are so thankful for you and the blessing you are to us and our family.  We love your sweet spirit and how easy going you are.  You can play for hours and hours by yourself, your imagination is incredible we have a hard time keeping up with you.  You love playing with your cars.  Sometimes your Lighting McQueen car will be Pooh and Mater will be Tigger and you will act out many stories, we never know what you are up to!  Can't wait to see all the journeys you will take and the places you will go.

Rachel had a busy Birthday.  The morning started out with gift opening!  She got to open all her gifts from out of town family members.  She had a blast and was all over unwrapping and playing with each new toy.

Then Grandma Broz picked her and Luna up for an art time at a children's studio in Redmond.  After the class they headed out to lunch at McDonalds. :)  That gave Mom plenty of time to get everything ready for the party and decorate the Birthday cake.

Rachel said she wanted a Tigger cake so I had my work cut out for me.  This cake was my hardest one yet, but I think it turned out great.  Most importantly it tasted good!

Rachel and Luna returned from their outing with Grandma.  Rachel had fallen asleep in the car and had a hard time waking up.  She was never really herself after that.  It was hard to know if she was just really tired or if she was not feeling well.  I tried to put her down for another nap before the party started but she did not sleep.  :(

Rachel got to pick the dinner, she wanted quesadillas, so we served tacos and she enjoyed her quesadilla.  During the dinner she continued to not be herself, almost falling asleep during dinner :(  So Brian and I just had to push her through.

After dinner, we sung Happy Birthday and she blew out her candles with a little help from Daddy.  Then it was time to open her gifts, she was fading fast.  So with lots of help from Luna, cousin Cooper and Daddy she opened each gift.  Then she went straight to bed!!  Happy Birthday to our sweet low key little girl, sorry your day was so exhausting.

Easter in Washington

We just wrapped up a two week visit to Washington.  Brian had a work trip out there and the girls just happened to have Spring Break, so we all decided to join him :)  The trip fell over Easter and Rachel's 3rd Birthday.  It was great.  We LOVE Washington!  It was fun see friends and family and of course our doggie Maggie.

Nana and Pops visited us over Easter weekend.  We always have so much fun with Nana and Pops.   We decorated Easter cookies (yummy), dyed some Easter eggs and enjoyed yummy yummy food.

We spent a lot of time with our neighbors during this visit, have I mentioned how much we all love them?  On Easter morning they surprised the girls with an Easter egg hunt and also had hidden Easter baskets in the yard for the girls to find.  We are so lucky to have them right next door to us!

For dinner we headed over to Grandma and Grandpa Broz's house. All the cousins enjoyed another egg hunt outside and some good play time!  It was fun to see them all dressed up together.

We had a wonderful Easter in Washington, so glad we could be there with our family and friends.  Below are some additional photos from the day.

She did it!

Luna completed all 100 of her reading lessons.  Not sure who was more excited about it Mommy or Luna.  Either way it was definitely a day to celebrate.  So after church we headed to McDonald's for lunch.  One of Luna's favorite places to eat :) so easy to please.

She has really become quite the little reader and I could not be more proud of her.  It is so fun to see this part of life come alive for her.  On Friday, she was asking me if she was going to get to watch the movie Snoopy Come Home.   I looked at her totally confused, I had no idea what she was talking about.  When I asked her more details, she explained that she read the sign outside of the elementary school that said they were having pizza and a movie night.  The movie being Snoopy.  Then the next time we left our building and walked by the sign she pointed it out to me and said "see Momma."

Here she is putting the last sticker on the chart.  I can't tell you how many times she has come across a sticker she likes and has told me "I am going to save this one for 100."  Today, 100 came and she did not go for any of those "saved" stickers.  Instead, she put a sticker on there that said "100%."

Luna has such a wonderful Daddy.  He bought and wrapped a gift to congratulate her.  Here she is opening the present.  It was a set of early reader books.  She loves them! We go back and forth reading.  She will read a page, we will read a page and at times Rachel will even "read" a page.
