Papi
This past weekend our friends we going to be gone for a long day. So they asked if Rachel might like to play with their dog "Papi" for a few hours while they were away. What do you think, did she have any fun?
Mini Golf
I love mini golf, seriously I love it. Luckily here in NYC there is a mini golf course right on the pier by our apartment. Brian and I have been but we have never taken the girls. So this weekend we took the girls for the first time.
They were pretty excited and did better than I thought. Since we went on the weekend it was quite busy and we had to wait at each hole which the girls did really well with. Brian rocked it, coming in first place. It was a great family outing and something I look forward to going again in the future, they will just keep getting better :) I love a little competition.

First Day of Preschool
Rachel had her first day of preschool today. She was not so sure on our walk there but once we got to the building and into her classroom (same one as last year) she was doing just great. It was a short day only a couple hours but she had fun. Her teachers said she did great. I asked them if she talked at all (last year she did not talk for the first two months of school!). They said she told them all about her summer! So glad!
I am excited about her year and the new friends she will make. One little girl (Willa) from our hallway is in her class. Today Rachel told me she "smiled at Willa a couple times." :) oh little girls they are so precious.

First Day of Kindergarten
This week we hit a major milestone, Luna started Kindergarten!
When we were thinking of moving to NYC, I never thought I would be sending my kids to the public schools. I always thought we would be back to WA before kindergarten. But with the different cut off dates, Luna is in kindergarten this year.
Luna loved kindergarten, she knew 4 different kids in her class. Three from our church and one from school last year. Before the first day of school, she had picked out her outfit for the day and also what she wanted in her packed lunch :) On Thursday, they started out with just a 1/2 day and then Friday was the first full day. Luna could not wait to eat lunch at school. She was so excited.
It was hard to leave her but so glad she loved it as much as she did. Can't wait to see what this year will bring for her.

Summer in Washington
We had a wonderful 7 week in Washington this summer. I had hardly believe we were there for 7 weeks, it went by so quickly. Our time was spent visiting with friends and family. We were busy busy busy but had so much fun. I have to say by the end of the 7 weeks, I was looking forward to our "quieter" life in NYC.
I already posted on our trip to Whistler so some of the other highlights were:
A visit from Gramma Laurie. She came and stayed with us a week. When Gramma first arrived we headed over to Remlinger Farms for a day of rides and fun. During that trip I learned that Gramma loves going on rides :) Which is great because many of them make me sick, so Gramma got to go on all the ones that spin.
Then Brian and I had a weekend away while Gramma spoiled the girls. We went to Massachusetts for a dear friend's wedding. It was a wonderful get away and Brian and I had so much fun catching up with old friends. Can't believe it has been almost 5 years since we lived in MA. Here is a photo with the bride and groom and all our dear friends:
The rest of our time was filled with swim lessons, the fair, Wild Waves, concerts in the park, the zoo, visiting with more friends and family, enjoying Grandma's sour dough bread, and celebrating Woodrow's first Birthday.
Brian spent his last week in Washington going on a hike with his Dad and brother. They spent 4 days hiking through the Olympic National Park. They had great weather and Daddy came back refreshed.
It was a wonderful time in Washington, we loved every minute of it!

While Brian and I were enjoying our time in Boston. Gramma took the girls shopping, out to lunch, Chucky Cheese and the park. Thank You Gramma for spending the week with us! Everyone had so much fun.
Then we went camping with my sister's family. This was our first time camping with the girls and we all enjoyed it. Going with my sister's family made it even better. The girls loved playing with their cousins. It was a great chance for everyone to reconnect. Brian also fished with the kids, it lasted all of about 15 minutes before they ended up in the lake swimming. :) But they loved it.
The next weekend we spent visiting Nana and Pops. We had a wonderful time. I got to enjoy my runs in the woods and just relax. The girls had fun going on tractor rides, having a tea party and sleeping in the bunk room (Luna loves the bunks). The girls went fishing on the boat and caught both a shark and crab!
